Selection criteria
We do not publish a rubric or a score: we publish the principles. Adding a channel is always a human editorial judgement, informed by these criteria and assisted by our analysis tools. No criterion works in isolation: a channel brilliant on one and failing on another does not get in. We look for the coherence of the whole.
-
Depth over virality
We look for content that will still matter in ten years: works worth rewatching, not pieces engineered for a momentary impulse. Wisdom does not expire with the algorithm; clickbait does. When a channel sacrifices depth to chase trends, it stops being a candidate.
-
Integrity
Coherence between what is taught and how it is communicated. No artificial urgency, no miracle promises, no fear used as a retention tool. A channel teaching serenity through screaming thumbnails contradicts itself, and the contradiction shows.
-
Pedagogical clarity
Making the profound accessible without trivialising it. Those who truly understand know how to explain: they order, illustrate, grade the difficulty, and never mistake obscurity for depth. We value teaching that respects both the subject and the person receiving it.
-
Rigour and intellectual honesty
Sources cited, nuance preserved, limits acknowledged. Distinguishing what is known from what is opined, and saying "we do not know" when we do not. In science, fidelity to the evidence; in spiritual traditions, fidelity to the source being transmitted.
-
Service
The primary orientation is to give. You can tell when a channel exists to serve its audience, and when it exists to capture it. Legitimate monetisation does not disqualify; an audience treated as merchandise does.
-
A lasting body of work
A sustained trajectory, not a flash. We value catalogues that age well: series that get finished, themes revisited with greater depth, a voice that matures. Consistency over time is the hardest proof to fake.
-
Formal sobriety
Respect for the viewer’s attention. Careful production in the service of the content, not of the stimulus: no frantic cuts, no devices standing in for substance. Formal beauty counts when it accompanies; it gets in the way when it disguises.
-
Intellectual hospitality
Teaching without contempt. A collection bringing together science, philosophy and spiritual traditions can only hold if its voices disagree without disdain and do not build their identity against anyone. Sectarianism, mockery of those who think differently, and certainty that admits no questions are left out.
We do not accept applications
No channel can sign itself up, pay to appear, or fast-track its review. We listen to nominations and decide without haste. That is how we protect the only thing that makes a collection valuable: that belonging to it means something.
